This, my friends, is my childhood on a plate.
But let’s start from the beginning. First attempt to visit new hip place in town, Eska, was quite unsuccesful – we were told we are third group in the line and we should expect an hour and a half wait. You can guess how that turned out.
I booked a table for the second try in advance, and finally, I got to experience the hype everyone is talking about.
When I saw two fairly small pancakes for 168czk on my plate, I was a bit dissapointed. But it all changed after the first bite:) This bite into the pancake filled with homemade strawberry jam toppped with soft curd cheese and fresh apple chunks took me back to when I was a kid and my mom made me pancakes on the weekend. The jam tasted identical to my dads that he made from strawberries from our garden. It was the ultimate comfort breakfast. And it was so filling ! I had a chance to try the Baker’s breakfast aswell, and everything on the plate was so good – from the homemade bread till the huge slice of cheescake.
If I had to point out one thing, I wonder why a place like this has to charge you almost 50 czk for a water from the tap. That is really dissapointing.

Do Eska jsme se dostali až na druhý pokud, hned na začátku vás musím varovat, že na spontální sobotní snídani to není, nebo hrozí, že budete třetí v pořadí a čekací doba bude hodina a půl. Nicméně jsem to nevzdala, udělala rezervaci, a vydala se vzykoušet, o čem to celé nadšení tedy je.
Když mi na stole přistály dvě menší palačinky za 168,-, začala jsem být skeptická, ale všechno to spravilo první sousto. Odneslo mě totiž zpátky do naší kuchyně, kde maminka o víkendu smažila palačinky, které jsme pak potírali poctivou vrstvou marmelády z našich vlastních jahod. Kombinace zavařeniny, tvarohu a kousky jablíček byla tak sytá, že jsem sotva porci dokončila. (…možná stím mělo co dočinění ochutnávání snídaně pekař, která byla taky vynikající, od domácího chleba až po nadýchaný cheescake…)
Pokud bych vytkla jedinou věc – proč si místo, jako tohle, kam se všichni chodí najíst, účtuje skoro půl stovky za vodu z vodovu, nad tím mi hlava zůstává stát.
